Cleveland Cavaliers Rumors: Ray Allen Free Agent Target With Timofey Mozgov Trade for Dion Waiters To Nuggets?

The Cleveland Cavaliers are coming into the season with pressure and expectations and if things aren't off to a great start, there is a chance the team could look at trade deals with Dion Waiters or Tristan Thompson to bring in some support with Timofey Mozgov and with the opening night game just around the corner, the team also could be looking to add Ray Allen as a free agent and LeBron James is trying to recruit him.

The Cavaliers have been the top team chasing Allen this offseason and while he has not yet signed, he said he plans on playing this season. According to Pro Basketball Talk, Danny Ainge said that Allen may not sign until the All-Star break to help keep himself fresh for the season and the playoffs. Allen played for Miami last year with James and that is why many think he will end up with the Cavs. The team is the favorite to win a title and Allen has said that he would like to make another run at a championship.

The Cavaliers have also been mentioned in trade rumors with Timofey Mozgov, as he is a target on the Denver Nuggets for numerous teams. According to Pro Basketball Talk, the Nuggets have received a number of calls about Mozgov and while the team is reluctant to trade him, they could make a move if they get a good enough package. The Cavs were mentioned as one of those teams over the summer, but reports about their package being weak likely ended any trade.

The team has Dion Waiters and Tristan Thompson as options to move and while both of those players have potential, the Cavs may still look at options to get James the exact support he needs. Waiters was mentioned in trade rumors quite a bit last season and he could be the player that gets moved. The Cavaliers are expected to be the east champs and this comes after they added Kevin Love in a huge trade this offseason for Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett.

LeBron James has been happy with the moves the Cavs have made and they have added former teammates from Miami in Mike Miller and James Jones. Allen would be another one added to that list and he could be very valuable in the playoffs and in late game situations. No one hits the three like Allen and he showed in Miami that the long range shot can still be a big weapon.
