Wigan chairman Dave Whelan claims the club have rejected a third bid from Chelsea for highly-rated forward Victor Moses.
Chelsea started the bidding for Moses, who has just one year remaining on his contract, with a £3.5 million ($5.4 million) offer, which Whelan brushed aside as rubbish.
The second bid, believed to be around £4 million ($6.2 million), was also knocked back, before Wigan rejected the latest bid of £5 million ($7.8 million).
The outspoken Wigan chairman wants Moses to further his education under the excellent Roberto Martinez, by agreeing to a new deal. However, it is understood, Moses has his heart set on a move to Chelsea, with his representatives doing everything they can to make the deal happen. "They've made three bids and we've not accepted any," Whelan told The Sun.
"We're still hoping that he signs an extended deal.
"They've all come in the last three weeks but they've not offered enough.
Whelan has previously stated, it would take a bid of at least £10 million ($15.6 million) to convince Wigan to sell their prized asset. "I don't know if they'll bid again but if they do we always listen.
"And if it is what Roberto believes is what he is worth then we will take it from there.
"If the lad had any brains he'd stay under Roberto for another year or so."
Chelsea are already plush with midfielders and wide players, with Oscar expected to arrive soon and Shakhtar Donetsk winger Willian linked with a move to the Stamford Bridge club. However, with Chelsea's spending this season already reaching high levels and the Financial Fair Play Regulations just around the corner, Roman Abramovich and Roberto Di Matteo might look at Moses as a cheaper alternative, with more experience the English Premier League.
