The NCAA Tournament and March Madness 2015 picks up this week with the second and third rounds and the matchup from Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville for the West region is on TV from TBS starting at 1:40 pm ET and the matchup has the Georgia State Panthers and Baylor Bears are playing live on schedule with a 14-seed taking on a number three.
The Panthers come in after winning their conference tournament title and they won over Georgia Southern to get it done. The super low scoring game was 38-36 and Kevin Ware led the way for Georgia State. Ware came back from a gruesome leg injury a couple years ago and now has the chance to be back in the tournament. The team is averaging 72 points per game and should be a tough test for Baylor after they went 24-9 overall and 15-5 while winning the Sun Belt.
Baylor comes in after losing to Kansas and they now are trying to avoid an upset loss. The NCAA Tournament is starting on Thursday with the field of 64 teams set and one of the matchups has a heartwarming story, as former Louisville guard Kevin Ware will lead Georgia State against Baylor in the second round two years after he suffered a scary broken leg on in the Elite Eight while playing against Duke.
Ware's injury was gruesome and most networks stopped airing it after the initial news was reported and afterwards he ended up transferring to Georgia State after he recovered. According to ESPN.com, Ware said that he hoped to be matched up with Louisville in his first game in the tournament, which starts on Thursday with games across the regions. Georgia State will play against Baylor in Jacksonville and it will be his first game in the tournament since that Elite 8 matchup with Duke.
Ware has played well for Georgia State and he comes in after scoring 18 points in the Sun Belt tournament championship game. The win gave the team a berth in the NCAA tournament and now they will face off against the Bears.
"I was hoping," Ware said Wednesday. "That would have been big, not just the storyline and things like that, but just being the first game in the NCAA tournament. I definitely would have wanted to play them, but we got Baylor, and that's all we're really worried about right now."
