The New Orleans Pelicans and Golden State Warriors are playing live on the NBA playoffs schedule on Saturday and the game is on ABC and streaming online from the WatchESPN website starts at 3:30 pm ET as the number one team in the west takes on Anthony Davis with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson leading the way.
The Warriors were the top team in the NBA this season and now they face off against Davis, but the team around him is not much competition for Golden State. The Warriors had 67 wins this season and they come in looking to take care of business in a west that could be wide open. There are good teams like Memphis, the Clippers and of course the Spurs, but the Warriors have been the most consistent all season in the NBA.
Curry has had an MVP season and Thompson has had another strong year and Curry set the record in three pointers made this season. The Warriors have been one of the best offensive teams in the league and they should be able to get past the Pelicans with ease. The Pelicans did something significant by making the playoffs, as they have not been in under this team name and it's the first time Davis has made it. Davis has shown that he is an MVP candidate and he basically put the Pelicans on his back to make the playoffs.
The Pelicans clinching put the entire southwest division into the playoffs and that is significant with all the teams out west. The Rockets, Spurs, Grizzlies, Mavericks and Pelicans all made the playoffs and the Thunder were the first team out behind New Orleans. The Warriors are considered the favorites overall in the west and the Cavaliers are coming into the playoffs as the favorites in the east.
