NFL Draft Trade Rumors: Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins Trading Up For Randy Gregory, Devin Smith, Maxx Williams?

May 01, 2015 09:49 AM EDT

The NFL draft is into Day 2 and with Rounds 2 and 3 coming up on Friday, names like Randy Gregory, Devin Smith, Maxx Williams and Jaelen Strong are potential targets and some teams like the Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys could look at trading up to make a pick in the top 10 of the second round.

The first round saw some trades, but not the major ones that were reported coming into the draft, including with Marcus Mariota. The 49ers made a deal with the Chargers to get Melvin Gordon, while the Broncos moved up to take Shane Ray. Randy Gregory slipped in the draft after his off the field issues, but he is considered a first round talent and a team could trade up to get him early in the second round.

The Dolphins reportedly were looking to trade up in the first round, but they sat tight and took DeVante Parker, who is a player they reportedly coveted in the draft over a number of other names. The Oakland Raiders, Chicago Bears or Washington Redskins could have traded down, but they stayed and made their picks and names like Amari Cooper, Kevin White, DeVante Parker and Todd Gurley are now off the board.

The Dolphins had the number 14 overall pick and CBS Sports reported that they had been calling around to teams about trading up. According to Rob Rang of NFLDraftScout.com, the Dolphins focused on DeVante Parker this offseason and now the team could look at TJ Yeldon or Ameer Abdullah after not being able to get Todd Gurley. Maxx Williams and Strong could be targets with Smith as well.

According to the Miami Herald, the Dolphins "coveted" Gurley, but with his draft stock rising, it was unlikely he would last until their pick. Gurley is considered the best back in the draft and reports were right about him going in the top 10. According to Yahoo Sports, the Jets, Bears and Falcons all could consider taking Yeldon in the second round this year.

The Dolphins have a need at running back, as they have Lamar Miller and not much else with Knowshon Moreno out in free agency. The team also wants to add weapons for Ryan Tannehill, who is coming off of his best season with the Dolphins in 2014. Yeldon could be a nice addition and now Parker comes in after having a strong season at Louisville.

The Dolphins have just six picks overall this year in the draft and they could look at that as a reason to trade back in the second round or even the third round to add picks. The team signed Ndamukong Suh and there is pressure to make the playoffs after missing out the past few seasons. Getting Yeldon, Tevin Coleman or Duke Johnson may require moving up and teams like the Redskins, Raiders and Bears could be potential trade partners.

White and Cooper were considered to be the best WRs in the draft and they each were very productive last season and ended up going in the top 10. Cooper had 17 touchdowns and 124 catches for 1700 yards, while White had over 100 catches and 10 touchdowns for West Virginia.
