Chelsea Transfer News: Di Matteo Concerned About Torres; Oscar Reveals Difference in European Style of Play

Roberto Di Matteo admitted there were some concerns about Fernando Torres continuously playing for Chelsea, due to the lack of options up front.

The only other option for Di Matteo in the center forward position - Daniel Sturridge - is out injured, meaning Torres will be making his 12th straight start of the season in Saturday's English Premier League game against Norwich City.

"Tomorrow is our seventh game in 21 days and we have a very good squad," Di Matteo said. "I try to use the squad as much as I can and freshen up the team sometimes to give the level of energy we need for every game.

"Every player wants to play every game but with the intensity and the tempo these days, it is very difficult for any player to play every game.

"Torres is in good shape, he is very fit but certainly it is something we have to look at."

Juan Mata was given a two-week break, which has seen him come refreshed and return to the brilliant form he showed last season.

While Di Matteo said he has not considered such a break for Torres yet, the Italian is very happy with the way Mata, who will again not be a part of next week's international fixtures, has responded.

"I am very happy that he has responded so well," he said. "It was common sense and the way he is performing suggests it was very welcome by his body and his mind."

Di Matteo also warned his players on the perils of playing in the league right after a Champions League game in midweek. "Every time you play in the league after a Champions League game you have to be mentally focused on the game, and the last game before an international break was not good," he said. "So it is the mental aspect of it that is important.

"We can be fairly pleased with our start and also the way we are playing but every game is a big challenge for us. Tomorrow is another big test and we will have to see if we can continue to play this kind of football and break the opposition down, create chances and win."

Meanwhile, Oscar revealed the difference between the way the game is played in his native Brazil with that in Europe. "I've been very happy to come to a big football country, an amazing city and a big club and I'm enjoying every day and playing football in England," he said.

"I'm trying every day to learn more and to become a better player and I hope in the future if I continue to work hard with the right mentality, I can make better play and help Chelsea in the Premier League.

"I've watched the Premier League for a long time so I knew the mentality needed, you have to work hard when you don't have the ball, it's different from Brazil.

"In Europe you have to work hard to get the ball back, and I have had a lot of support inside the club, where people have given me videos of games and things like that to help me learn the philosophy of the football here and adapt, because they know the league better than I do and what I need to do."
