Luis Suarez is certainly not the most popular player in the English Premier League among his peers, with Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny coming out and calling the Liverpool striker a "cheat."
Suarez has irked players, fans and managers alike in the recent past, with his over the top antics. While there have been cases, when he has had a genuine case for a penalty, on most occasions the theatrical Uruguayan has been guilty of going down too easily, particularly inside the box.
Stoke manager and a couple of the club's players criticized Suarez for trying to win penalties inside the box, at the slightest hint of a contact, while FIFA vice-president Jim Boyce recently said simulation was becoming "a cancer within the game."
Koscielny is one of those with a particular dislike toward Suarez's style of play. "Who is the forward I hate to face? Suarez," Koscielny told L'Equipe. "Last season, I didn't feel too well.
"It was a match at 12.30pm and I don't like that schedule. He is tiresome to defend against. He cheats.
"He pulls your shirt, giving small blows. You always want to give him a kick but you have to be careful not to be red carded.
"For example on September 2 against Liverpool, it was the case with Luis Suarez. He is a player who likes to dive as soon as there is contact. During a challenge, we jostled a bit each other and he fell.
"He started to talk to me in English, to say it was a penalty."
Koscielny, however, admires a certain former Chelsea striker, who terrorized Arsenal defences in his eight years at Stamford Bridge - Didier Drogba. "He is strong, he is good when he plays with his back to goal, a great header of the ball and good in the gaps," Koscielny added.
"He is the first running everywhere. We saw against Barcelona last season. On his own, he crashed the Barcelona ship."
The French international defender also had kind words to say about Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney. "He is very clever, even if Robin van Persie is even smarter," he said.
"He goes back to the midfield quite often. Rooney likes the ball and to assist."
