Check out our live blog of Game 2 of the 2012 World Series as the Detroit Tigers look to avenge the loss of their ace to the San Francisco Giants. Game time is at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
For the Giants, they seem to have some of the magic associated to World Series teams. They have battled adversity (Melky) and have found a way to win despite not havng a powerful lineup.
They hit the least number of home runs this season, yet, Pablo Sandoval smacked three in his first career World Series at bats. Barry Zito, a struggling left hander who was great a decade ago, is finally proving he is worth $126 million.
If the Tigers want to win a World Series, they will have to beat more than just a baseball team, they will have to beat a team that is clicking on all cylinders and on a roll.
Coming into Game 2, the Giants have won four consecutive games and have completely decimated starting pitching, scoring 28 runs in their last four games. That is an average of seven runs per game.
The Tigers will depend on Doug Fister to get them on the win column today and avoid falling behind 0-2. He will face Madison Bumgarner, who has struggled, to say the least.
