The San Francisco Giants are World Series Champions as they completed the sweep against the Detroit Tigers in extra innings 4-3 and they have Marco Scutaro to thank once again.
With Ryan Theriot on second, Scutaro smacked a base hit into centerfield. Austin Jackson could not reach the liner nor make the throw to get Theriot at the plate.
The run broke a 3-3 tie in the 10th after a great game that saw a couple of lead changes.
Sergio Romo came in the 10th and struckout the side embarrassingly striking out the Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera looking with a fastball right down the middle.
The Giants and the Tigers exchanged blows taking leads and tying the game back and forth.
Brandon Belt produced the first lead change in the top of the 2nd with a triple to right field scoring Hunter Pence from second.
Miguel Cabrera answered back in the bottom of the third with his first homer of the 2012 World Series with a shot that took a ride with the wind and went over the right field fence making it a 2-1 game.
It was the first lead for the Tigers in the World Series.
Buster Posey then struck with some power in the top of the 6th with a two-run shot of his own. He got a hold of a Max Scherzer offspeed pitch and pulled it over the left field fence.
The bullpens held it down for both squads, but the Giants' pitching held the Tigers' lineup.
This is the 2nd championship in the last three years for the San Francisco Giants. They were winners of the 2010 World Series and can now say they are champions of the 2012 season.
