Oct 11, 2015 08:23 PM EDT

The San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants are playing on the Sunday night football schedule in Week 5 and the game is live from MetLife Stadium and on TV from NBC starting at 8:30 pm ET. Eli Manning and the Giants are looking to improve to 3-2 after winning over the Bills last week, while the Niners are coming in after a tough loss.

The Giants could be 4-0 this season if they did not blow their first two games and with the Cowboys losing to the Patriots they could take advantage in the division standings. Manning comes in having a solid start to the season, while Colin Kaepernick has not been so great for the Niners this season. Kaepernick has just two touchdowns with five interceptions this season and now the team has to travel cross country to play the Giants.

The 49ers come in having lost three straight after falling to the Packers last week and they won in Week 1 against the Vikings before dropping the next few games. Carlos Hyde has been off to a solid start, while Rashad Jennings is leading the Giants with 134 yards rushing. The Giants will be without Victor Cruz again in this game and and the team is hoping that he can come back soon. Odell Beckham is off to another good start with 24 catches for over 300 yards and he will continue being the main focus with Cruz out.

The Giants offense is starting to take shape at the right time and the team now has the chance to be in first place in the division standings with a win on Sunday night. The Giants schedule has some tough games coming up, including the Patriots in a month and getting a win here over a struggling Niners team would be big. The Giants gave up double digit leads in the first two games of the season and now they have the chance to take the lead in the division.

The Cowboys are still dealing with injuries to Tony Romo and Dez Bryant and that gives the Giants a chance to make up some ground while those players are out. The Giants defense has stepped up in the past two weeks and now the team is getting ready to face an offense that has been struggling with the 49ers. The Niners are the lowest scoring offense in the league right now and they have scored just 10 points over the last two games.

The Niners next will play against the Ravens and then the Seahawks after playing the Giants, while the Rams and Falcons will be after that. The Giants have the Eagles, Cowboys, Saints, Bucs and Pats next before playing the Redskins and then the Jets in a home game.
