Dallas Cowboys Rumors: Matt Cassel Starts Over Brandon Weeden After Bye? Greg Hardy Debuts Strong, Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden Fantasy Picks

The Dallas Cowboys lost to the Patriots on Sunday and heading into the bye week, head coach Jason Garrett could consider starting Matt Cassel over Brandon Weeden in the next game against the Giants. Weeden struggled on Sunday despite solid games from Joseph Randle and Darren McFadden, while Greg Hardy had a strong debut after returning from suspension in Week 5.

The Cowboys have been dealing with injuries to Tony Romo and Dez Bryant and heading into the bye week the team is 2-3 on the season. The Giants took the division lead with a win on Sunday and now with the Cowboys heading into the bye week, it could be time for a quarterback change. According to ESPN Dallas, after the game, head coach Jason Garrett said that the quarterback position will be under "evaluation" heading into the next game for the Cowboys.

Weeden has been starting since Romo went down and he has not won a game yet and the Cowboys also have Cassel on the roster after acquiring him from the Bills. Making a change in the bye week isn't a bad idea, as it gives the team time to put in a gameplan and get Cassel ready to play. The Cowboys don't play again until October 25 against the Giants and that will be a road game at MetLife Stadium and will come with the Giants in first place. The rest of the division is 2-3, while the Giants are now 3-2 after winning over the 49ers.

Garrett said "yes" to Todd Archer from ESPN Dallas when asked about whether he would take a look at the starting QB through the bye week and now a change could be made. Weeden was sacked three times and while he completed 26 of 39 passes against the Pats, he threw a pick and had only 188 yards. The Cowboys only scored six points in the game and the offense could not get things going and lost 30-6 against the Patriots.

Cassel was the backup for Weeden on Sunday for the first time since being acquired from the Bills and he was previously inactive in his first two games with Dallas. According to ESPN.com, the Cowboys offense did not produce a TD for the first time since back in the 2011 season against the Redskins. Greg Hardy returned from his suspension and made an immediate impact, going for two sacks and making four tackles against the Patriots. Hardy was around the QB through the game and helped force a fumble, but the Cowboys didn't recover it.

Joseph Randle and Darren McFadden each had solid games for the Cowboys and they are continuing to split time for fantasy owners. Randle had 60 yards rushing against the Pats, while McFadden had nine catches for 62 yards and added 16 yards on the ground.
