The New York Mets won over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday night 13-7 at Citi Field and now the team leads the NLDS 2-1 heading into Game 4. Matt Harvey was credited with the win and now the team will pitch Steven Matz against Clayton Kershaw for Game 4 on Monday.
The Mets powered their way to a victory, getting home runs from Travis d'Arnaud and Yoenis Cespedes and Curtis Granderson drove in four runs in the game. The Mets scored four runs in that inning and added two in the next inning and seven more to win against the Dodgers. The team put up 13 hits in the game and now they have the chance to clinch at home. The Mets started off the game with a bit of a tough stretch, as they were down 3-0 heading into the bottom of the second after making an error on an outfield throw by Curtis Granderson. But it did not last long, as Granderson made up for it the next frame with a huge hit.
The Dodgers struck first in the game with those three runs against Harvey, but the Mets were able to cut into that with four runs in the bottom of the second. Yoenis Cespedes had a hit in the the inning and Travis d'Arnaud was able to knock in a run to get the score to 3-1 before Ramon Flores loaded the bases with an infield hit with nobody out. After Matt Harvey struck out, Curtis Granderson came up with the bases loaded and cleared them, giving the Mets a 4-3 lead with a double into the outfield.
Granderson continued some hot hitting against Anderson, as the double was his sixth hit in nine at-bats against the Dodgers pitcher. The Mets now have the chance to clinch the series at home and if they can do that, it will save Jacob deGrom for Game 1 of the next series. The Cubs are leading the Cardinals 2-1 in the other NLDS series and that Game 4 matchup will be on Tuesday afternoon from Wrigley Field. The Cubs have never clinched a playoff series at Wrigley Field before.
