The LA Dodgers and New York Mets are set for Game 4 of the NLDS in the MLB playoffs and the game is on TV and streaming live from TBS on Tuesday. The Mets can clinch the series with a win and Steven Matz will take on Clayton Kershaw at Citi Field in Queens and the National League Division Series game starts up past 8 pm ET.
The Mets come in after winning Game 3 of the series and that came after an emotional loss in Game 2. That game had some controversy with the Chase Utley slide that injured Ruben Tejada and the Mets got some revenge by winning big in Game 3. The team won 13-7 and powered past the Dodgers with home runs from Yoenis Cespedes and Travis d'Arnaud, while Curtis Granderson had five RBI in the game.
The Mets were hit early with three runs in the second after an error by Granderson allowed an extra run to score, but the team made up for it right away. Granderson came up with the bases loaded and cleared them in the bottom of the second and the team left the inning with a 4-3 lead and never gave it back. Matt Harvey was not great on Monday night, but he did enough to get his team in position to win and now the Mets have the chance to advance to the NLCS with a victory in Game 4.
Clayton Kershaw has the chance to get back on the mound and he will need to be at his best for the Dodgers to stay alive in the series. The Mets will pitch Steven Matz in the game and Bartolo Colon could also get some work depending on how the game develops. Kershaw is coming in on three days rest for the Dodgers and that could be a factor in how things go on Tuesday night. Chase Utley did not end up playing in the game against the Mets in Game 3 and he could end up in the game on Tuesday if Don Mattingly gets a situation he likes.
The Dodgers threw Brett Anderson in Game 3 and the Mets knocked him around and now they will try and do the same with Kershaw. Adrian Gonzalez and Howie Kendrick had home runs late for the Dodgers, but they did not end up making much of a difference and now the Dodgers are up against the wall in Game 4. The team has to win two in a row to advance and they will have Zack Greinke ready to pitch if they can win this game.
Cespedes helped break the game wide open with his home run in the fourth inning and that helped propel the Mets to a victory. The team now has the chance to advance to the Championship Series for the first time in years and doing it on Tuesday will mean celebrating at home in front of their fans.
