The Chicago Cubs won over the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday to advance to the NLCS, winning the NLDS series 3-1 at Wrigley Field. The Los Angeles Dodgers won over the NY Mets top force a Game 5 in the NLDS, as the series is tied 2-2 and will shift back to the west coast for the MLB postseason.
The Cubs won a playoff series at Wrigley Field for the first time and the team looks like it has destiny written on them. The team is made up of young players like Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant and Kyle Schwarber and the Cubs are playing some great baseball, hitting home runs and pitching well and now they are in the championship series. Javier Baez made an impact for the Cubs in Game 4 and took John Lackey for a home run and later Schwarber hit another towering home run and that helped propel the team to a 6-4 victory.
The Cubs and Cardinals are one of the biggest rivalries in sports and now Chicago has the leg up in baseball for the moment after winning this series. Joe Maddon was brought in this season and the Cubs played with a ton of confidence and now they are in position to make it back to the World Series for the first time in decades. The team lost to the Marlins in a memorable series the last time they were in the NLCS and now they have another chance to make up for that. The team is waiting to see whether the Dodgers or Mets advance, as the teams will play Game 5 in Los Angeles after the Dodgers won Game 4 at Citi Field 3-1 on Tuesday night.
The Cubs have not won a World Series in over 100 years and that makes this run in the playoffs even more amazing. Trevor Cahill was credited with the win, while Hector Rondon took the save and Kevin Siegrist had the loss for the Cardinals. In the Dodgers-Mets game, Steven Matz took the loss, while Clayton Kershaw earned the win and Kenley Jansen took the save and now the series is into Game 5, just like both series in the ALDS.
Kershaw went seven innings on short rest and was able to get the win for the Dodgers and the next game will have Jacob deGrom taking on Zack Greinke in a marquee matchup. The Mets are looking to take the series after having a 2-1 lead following their 13-7 win on Monday night. The winner of this series will host the Cubs in the NLCS and now it will be a one-game, winner take all to see who advances.
