The NY Giants won over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday and Odell Beckham was healthy despite dealing with a hamstring issue. Orleans Darkwa stepped up for the Giants at running back and is a potentially fantasy free agent option, while Victor Cruz still doesn't have a return date set.
The Giants improved to 4-3 after the 27-20 win against the Cowboys and it was the first start for Matt Cassel for the team this season. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie stepped up with two interceptions and he returned one for a touchdown, while Dwayne Harris returned a kick 100-yards for a touchdown against his former team. The Giants have first place in the division heading into Week 8 after the Eagles lost to the Panthers on Sunday Night Football.
UPDATE: Jason Pierre-Paul is having his meeting with the team.
The Giants gave up 152 yards on the ground to Darren McFadden and the Cowboys rushed for over 200 yards as a team. New York was able to hold back the Cowboys enough and when Dallas had the chance to get the ball back and drive at the end of the game to try and tie things up, Cole Beasley muffed a punt and turned the ball over. The Giants will face off against the New Orleans Saints next and that will be on the road before the team plays against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Odell Beckham came into the week without practicing due to a sore hamstring,, but he was able to play against the Cowboys and did not re-aggravate the injury. Beckham had his lowest output of the season with four catches for 35 yards and he came in after putting up at least five catches in every game this season. Fantasy owners should look at Orleans Darkwa as a free agent option for the Giants, as he had a solid game on Sunday against the Cowboys. Darkwa had 48 yards and a touchdown and he could see some work ahead of Andre Williams in the coming weeks.
Victor Cruz remains sidelined for the Giants and he currently has no firm timetable for a return. Cruz reportedly has no more pain in his calf, but a recent MRI showed some damage to the injury, according to ESPN.com. Cruz was out for the game on Sunday against the Cowboys and he potentially could return against the Saints or the Buccaneers coming up over the next two weeks. Cruz has not played for the Giants this season and he missed 10 games last year after suffering a serious knee injury.
Dan Graziano at ESPN reports that the Giants and Jason Pierre-Paul are expected to meet this week to discuss a potential return for the defensive end. Graziano reports that sources have said that a meeting could take place Tuesday, but that he was "told same about Pierre-Paul last week, and meeting didn't happen." Graziano writes that the Giants and JPP have not yet engaged in salary negotiations about what to do with his franchise tender deal.
