The Pittsburgh Steelers have DeAngelo Williams taking over as the starting running back heading into Week 9 with Le'Veon Bell injured and he is worth starting for fantasy football owners. The Steelers have claimed Jacoby Jones off waivers and he joins Antonio Brown, Martavis Bryant and Markus Wheaton as the wideouts for Ben Roethlisberger.
According to Pro Football Talk, the Steelers have claimed Jacoby Jones off of waivers after the receiver was let go by the San Diego Chargers. Jones previously signed a two year deal with San Diego in the offseason, but things did not work out this season and he was released this week. Jones was used more on special teams and he did not catch a pass on offense for the Chargers. The Steelers waived Dri Archer to make the move and it's likely that Jones will be used in the return game for Pittsburgh.
The Steelers take on the Raiders this weekend in what could be a huge game come playoff time, as the Raiders are 4-3 and Pittsburgh comes in at 4-4. Both teams could be in the mix in the AFC for a wild card spot and a head to head win could end up being the difference by the end of the season. The Steelers are dealing with a big loss with Le'Veon Bell out for the season and that means DeAngelo Williams will take over as the starter.
Bell is one of the best backs in the league and now the Steelers will have to find a way to replace his production. Mike Tomlin said that Williams will be the "feature" back with Bell out and it comes after Williams started the first two games of the season when Bell was suspended. Williams performed well in those games, rushing for over 200 yards and scoring three touchdowns. The Steelers also have Jordan Todman and Isaiah Pead as options behind Williams, but Tomlin said that Williams will get the bulk of the carries this week.
The Steelers just got back Ben Roethlisberger after he dealt with a knee injury and now the offense takes another hit with Bell out of action. Roethlisberger has 1174 passing yards in four games this season with five touchdowns and he will try and get things going again this week after the loss against the Bengals. Roethlisberger did not suffer any type of setback against the Bengals regarding his knee and that is welcome news for the WRs like Antonio Brown and Martavis Bryant heading into the Week 9 matchup.
Bell is out for the season and according to ESPN.com, he will have a recovery time of around six to nine months. Bell should be on track to be healthy for next season.
