The fantasy basketball season is in full swing and heading into the back stretch of November, some players to watch on the waiver wire include Evan Fournier, TJ McConnell, Elfrid Payton, Marcus Thornton, Zach LaVine, Jeremy Lamb, Michael Carter-Williams and Terrence Jones. Fournier and Payton have been playing well for the Magic, while LaVine has been getting minutes with the Wolves dealing with injuries.
The back end of the fantasy basketball roster can add some value for team owners and players like Fournier, Thornton and McConnell could be nice fits for some extra points. Fournier comes in after a nice stretch of games and he continues to get playing time for the Magic and could be a solid contributor for fantasy. Fournier hit the game winning shot against the Wolves Wednesday, scoring 26 points and adding four rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Fournier is averaging 19.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game this season and he made it into the starting lineup for the Magic on Wednesday. Elfrid Payton has been playing well for the Magic and he comes in after putting up 24 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals against the Wolves and is a solid fantasy option as a second point guard. Payton has scored at least 15 points in three straight games and has played at least 35 minutes in each of those contests. Payton is averaging 11 points and six assists per game this season.
Marcus Thornton was playing more for the Rockets with Terrence Jones out, but now that Jones has returned, Thornton may not be a great option for fantasy owners anymore. Jones may need some time to get his feel back after being out with a hand injury and he returned to the starting lineup and scored eight points for the Rockets on Wednesday. Jones is averaging 12 points and five rebounds per game in seven games this season, while Thornton is averaging 12 points and 3.7 rebounds in 10 games played. If Jones goes down again, Thornton is worth a look.
Zach LaVine had been getting extra playing time with Ricky Rubio out and he still remains a solid option despite Rubio returning from injury. LaVine scored 17 points with four boards, three assists and one steal on Tuesday night against Miami and this season he is averaging 14 points and 3.3 assists per game. McConnell is a player to keep an eye on for the Sixers, as he has been leading all rookies in assists per game this season.
McConnell had a career best 16 points against the Pacers and he has been averaging 7.3 points and 4.9 rebounds along with six assists. Jeremy Lamb has been playing well for the hornets and he is averaging 12 points and 4.5 rebounds per game this season. Michael Carter-Williams returned from injury and he now is averaging 13 points and 5.2 assists per game in six games this season.
