The New York Jets and Buffalo Bills are playing on the NFL Week 17 schedule on Sunday and the game from Ralph Wilson Stadium starts up at 1 pm ET. The Jets need a win to get into the playoffs and to get it done the team has to go through former head coach Rex Ryan and the Bills.
The Jets have been on a strong run and they now are in playoff position in the AFC, but to clinch a spot they will need a win (or a Steelers loss) on Sunday. The team is 10-5 coming into the game and the team set itself up for this with a victory over the New England Patriots last week. The game went into overtime and the Jets won after a 6-yard touchdown in the extra frame to Eric Decker to win it.
The Steelers had the chance to control their own destiny, as the team had the tiebreaker over the Jets, but after losing to the Ravens last week, the Jets now have the chance to get in. The Bills come in at 7-8 and while getting to .500 would be some progress, it is not quite what the team expected after bringing in Ryan. The Bills got off to a strong start this season before some inconsistent play and now the team will try and play spoiler for the Jets.
The Bills won over the Jets earlier this season on a Thursday night game in New York and now the team has the chance to get it done in Buffalo. The Jets have won five games in a row since falling to 5-5 after a loss to the Texans and now the team has confidence heading into Week 17. The Jets started 4-1 this season before that tough stretch and now the team is starting to take that early season form again.
Ryan Fitzpatrick has been having a strong season for the Jets with 3724 yards, 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions and he has played well over the winning streak. Brandon Marshall has had a very productive season with 101 catches for 1376 yards and he has been the top red zone target for Fitzpatrick with 13 touchdowns. Chris Ivory is closing in on a 1000 yard season and he has been a strong running back for the Jets offense this year.
