Los Angeles Dodgers Rumors: Zack Greinke to Get 6 or 7 Years?

Dec 04, 2012 09:20 AM EST

Realistically speaking, the Los Angeles Dodgers might be the only team able to match Zack Greinke's desired contract. Though details are unknown, it lies between either six years or seven years as CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman reported.

The one thing we know is that he will get paid. And by paid I mean paid well!

Heyman's guess is a six-year, $150 million deal for Greinke who has won a total of 91 games in his first nine years at the major league level.

Many other analysts, however, see Greinke going for seven years and $175 million.

Either way, it's a lot of money, money only the Dodgers have to spend as they seem willing to spend left and right.

Teams like the Angels and the Atlanta Braves were completely removed from talks as Greinke is absolutely too expensive for both squads.

In L.A., Greinke would join Clayton Kershaw and as of late, rumors of the Dodgers interests in R.A. Dickey would make their rotation complete.

Greinke is 29-years-old, meaning after he gets signed in 2012, he will be pitching in the majors until the age of 35 or 36.

Greinke has won at least 10 games in the last five seasons, has gone 31-11 in the last two seasons with an ERA lower than four and 401 strikeouts.

Never doubt the possibility of a dark horse team joining the rumors, but for now, the Dodgers are the front runners.
