With one Brazilian already coming in January, another one could make his move to Chelsea after Hulk expressed his unhappiness at Zenit St. Petersburg following a row with manager Lucian Spalletti.
The Hulk to Chelsea saga was one of the biggest stories of the summer, with the Brazilian international making headlines and leaving no stone unturned in his efforts to manufacture a move to the Blues.
However, despite everyone's efforts the deal never came about as third-party involvement scuppered Chelsea's plans of adding another Brazilian to their squad.
Hulk was eventually sold to Zenit for a fee believed to be around €40 million (£32.5 million, $52.3 million), but the Brazilian has not exactly set the world alight in Russia.
The 26-year-old and Axel Witsel's arrival in the summer on big contracts was not met with too much joy by the rest of the Zenit players and compounding it all is the fact that Hulk has found his relationship with Spalletti difficult to say the least.
The matter came to a head when the Brazilian was substituted in Zenit's 1-0 Champions League win over AC Milan on Tuesday, a decision that did not go down too well.
"I feel fine in St Petersburg, my family is fine and my son is fine," he told Premium Calcio after the match.
"But if the situation with Luciano Spalletti does not resolve itself, I could leave in January. I don't know if Italy would be my destination, but anything can happen."
Spalletti, not moved by the remarks of his player, said he would substitute Hulk again if the need arose in the future. "Hulk does and says what he wants," he said. "I will have no qualms about replacing him again."
Chelsea, while unlikely to make a move for him in January, would be keeping a close eye on developments, as Hulk could very easily fill in the central striker's role at Stamford Bridge, even if he prefers to play as an inside left-forward.
With Fernando Torres continuing to struggle, and Radamel Falcao not available until the summer, a move for Hulk cannot be entirely ruled out.
Meanwhile, the Blues announced the signing of young Brazilian fullback Wallace from Fluminense. Chelsea already reportedly held 40 percent of the player's economic rights as part of the deal that sent Deco to the club in 2010.
Now the rest of the formalities have been completed with the 18-year-old set to stay with the Brazilian club until the end of the season.
"Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce we have agreed terms with Fluminense for the transfer of Wallace in the January window," the club said in a statement on their official website.
"As part of the deal, the 18-year-old defender will remain with Fluminense until the end of the season."
Wallace will become the fifth Brazilian in the Chelsea squad, joining the likes of Oscar, David Luiz, Ramires and Lucaz Piazon.
