Manchester United Transfer News: United Linked with Move for Arturo Vidal; Evra Plays Down PSG Reports

Manchester United's need for a solid central midfielder has taken them to Turin, with Arturo Vidal being linked with a move, while Patrice Evra said he has no plans of leaving Old Trafford amid reports suggesting he could be on his way to Paris St. Germain.

United's need for a powerful midfielder in the middle of the park has been highlighted time and again, with Sir Alex Ferguson repeatedly implored to buy such a player.

Ferguson knows the deficiencies that United face in midfield, which has partly been a cause for their poor defensive record this season, and the manager is seriously looking at options in January.

One of players being linked is Vidal, a typical hard working box-to-box midfielder, who also has a few goals in him.

Vidal, who had an outstanding game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League, would be a perfect addition to United's squad and would arguably make them bigger favorites to wrest back the English Premier League title from Manchester City.

United are currently on cloud nine, after their dramatic 3-2 win over Manchester City took them six points clear of their Mancunian rivals in the English Premier League.

A couple of reinforcements in January will only make an already strong United squad even better, with Kevin Strootman also heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford. Vidal, however, would cost quite a considerable sum, and it is highly unlikely that the Italian champions will allow one of their best players to leave in January.

One of Vidal or Strootman, no doubt, would be a great addition, though.

Meanwhile, Evra has played down rumors linking him with a move to French powerhouse PSG. The French international left-back has been continually linked with a move away from Old Trafford in the past couple of windows, with United reportedly ready to bring in Leighton Baines.

However, Evra, while being flattered by reports of a move to PSG, said he was happy to stay with United.

"This is the club from the capital, I have never hidden my love for Paris, even if Monaco will stay my club," Evra told Canal+.

"It always hurts my heart to see the club not win the championship or qualify for the Champions League.

"It is always a pleasure that Paris is interested by me, especially because I'm Parisian, but you will have to kill Ferguson before I come to Paris. There is nothing done and I'm happy in Manchester."
