With the signing of Daniel Sturridge as good as sealed, Liverpool are not stopping their hunt for forwards, with Paris Saint Germain forward Kevin Gameiro being lined up for a loan deal until the end of the season, while an interest for Wesley Sneijder remains.
Sturridge is expected to be at the Sunderland game to watch his new club play in the English Premier League, with the Chelsea forward even a possibility to make his debut in the FA Cup at the weekend.
While one of Brendan Rodgers' priority signings has been done and dusted, the manager is keen to add some more options in the creative department, with Gameiro being lined up, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The French striker is not first choice at PSG and has seen his chances diminished this season. The 25-year-old is a technically gifted forward, capable of playing across the forward line, and will add another dimension to Liverpool's attacks.
The Reds are still keen on Thomas Ince, with talks at an advanced stage, but Blackpool are sticking to their transfer fee demands of £6 million ($10 million). Liverpool rate the forward, who left Anfield last season for a mere £500,000 ($817,000), at around £4 million ($6.5 million).
Wesley Sneijder is another name being touted as a future Liverpool player, with the Inter Milan playmaker making his intentions of leaving the Italian club in January clear.
Sneijder is wanted by some of the leading clubs in the world, but most of them have been put off by the Dutch international's excessive wage demands. Liverpool, if they do agree a fee with Inter for the 27-year-old, will then have to find a way to negotiate the wages to a reasonable amount.
One of those ways to ease the salary bill at Anfield will be to let go of Nuri Sahin, who is on loan from Real Madrid. Inter are keen on the midfielder, according to the Daily Mail, and if they make a concrete offer for a permanent move, Rodgers might be willing to cut short his loan stint.
Sahin has failed to make his mark at Anfield, and with the return from injury of Lucas Leiva, the Turkish international will see his chances further diminished.
