Arsenal Transfer Rumours: Edinson Cavani Open to Summer Switch

Jan 03, 2013 03:13 AM EST

Arsenal have not had a big name summer signing for quite a while now. A player that has brought dribbles of excitement to the faithful Gooners out there.

However, one of the most prolific strikers in Europe currently has opened a move to a bigger club in the summer.

Edinson Cavani's agent admitted his client could leave Napoli at the end of the season.

"For now Cavani will stay but I wouldn't be so sure about that once June arrives," Mino Raiola is quoted as saying by The Sun.

Arsenal reportedly have plenty of money available to buy players, not only in January, but next summer as well, with some of the Emirates sponsorship cash to be added.

Cavani reportedly has a buyout clause in the region of £50 million ($81 million), normally well beyond the reach of Arsenal.

However, there are some changes happening with Arsene Wenger himself admitting the financial restrictions at the Emirates no more existed.

It would be unlikely that Arsenal would pay such an amount for one player; however, stranger things have happened and if there is one thing that cannot be taken away from the fans desperate for some staggering news in the transfer market, it is hope.

Meanwhile, with Arsenal set to face Swansea in the FA Cup on Sunday, Kieran Gibbs feels the match presents the Gunners with another opportunity towards breaking their trophy drought.

"It would be great to get a trophy, of course," Gibbs told the club's official website. "We go to Swansea like it's one of our biggest games of the season.

"We need to go there and realise that this is another opportunity to get a trophy and we want to go there and win.

"Obviously we're out of one cup now so we need to make sure that we're fully focused on Sunday and realise that we have a chance to put a trophy in the cabinet.

After the Swansea game, Arsenal face tough matches against Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool in the English Premier League.
