For athletes, along with the accolades comes the exposure of their private lives and the latest featured A.J. McCarron's girlfriend, Katherine Webb, taking the focus of the camera away from the action taking place on the field. She joins a list of women who have stolen the spotlight from the true stars early on in 2013.
Katherine Webb: Miss Alabama
The BCS National Championship featured the Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Though the teams were going against each other on the field as they competed for college football's ultimate prize, they competed against Katherine Webb for television time.
Webb, who is Miss Alabama, was all over the television screen and even the commentators had a few things to say about how great it would be to have the kids playing catch with her in the backyard.

Shailin Spani: Collin Klein's Wife
She was probably first introduced to the world as Kansas St. Wild Cat's quarterback wife and first kiss. Spani then proceeded to outshine her own husband in the Fiesta Bowl game loss to the Oregon Ducks.

The camera wastes no time in finding Spani and lucky for her she was cheering or else she probably would have landed on the front cover of a magazine for not being supportive.
Vanessa Bryant: "You wasn't with me shooting in the gym!"
Next on the list is Kobe Bryant's wife, who we've heard of plenty of times throughout the NBA star's career. Despite Kobe's great 2012-2013 season, Vanessa seems like the type to be fearless when making comments regarding her husband or family.
The latest news from Mrs. Bryant was addressing popstar Drake's lyrics in "Stay Schemin,'" Rick Ross' hit single featuring Drake and French Montana.
Here's a quick look at what she said: "I love when immature kids quote a rapper that has never been friends with Kobe and knows nothing about our relationship. Just shows how gullible they are. I don't need to be in the gym. I'm raising our daughters, signing checks and taking care of everything else that pertains to our home life. [...]"
Boom! That probably won't stop people from commenting, but well said Vanessa. Well said.
Michael Phelps Breaks Records and Hearts
Though the Olympics are last year's news, Phelps' love life is still important enough to steal headlines. After approximately 10 months of dating, the Olympian with the most medals in the history of the event, broke up with Megan Rossee, because, according to Phelps, the relationship wasn't going anywhere.
Phelps is now retired, but chances are this is the last we've heard from the former swimmer. Phelps said that he will concentrate on growing American swimming and working with philanthropic endeavors. We'll probably hear if he ever ties the knot and you can expect Mrs. Phelps to steal all the headlines then.
