Manchester United Transfer News: Wesley Sneijder Not Close to Galatasaray Move, Wants to Sign for Premier League Club

Manchester United might still be in with a chance of signing Wesley Sneijder, if they choose to, with the Dutch international's agent admitting no deal had been agreed with Galatasaray as yet, despite the Turkish club agreeing a fee with Inter Milan.

Despite being one of the most consistent and highly-rated midfielders in Europe, Sneijder has found it difficult to negotiate a move to the English Premier League due to his excessive wage demands.

The 28-year-old, who has been linked with moves to United, Tottenham, Manchester City and Liverpool, has made no bones about his preference over a move to England, and is still waiting for the right offer to come along.

Galatasaray sporting director Abdurrahim Albayrak had earlier claimed the Turkish club were close to agreeing a deal with the player.

"Sneijder's transfer is one of great interest, especially the president's," Albayrak told Sporx. "All that is left is for the player to agree to the move.

"His wages are too high for Inter, and right now, it is most likely that the player will accept our terms.

"He is thinking about giving us an answer. Perhaps he has yet to talk to other clubs, but Inter have agreed a deal with us for a fraction of his market value.

"There is no signature without the agreement so I cannot say much more.

"I've got to be very cautious and represent my club's interests."

Sneijder's agent Soren Lerby, however, said his client had not even spoken to Galatasaray as yet over a move.

"That's impossible," Lerby told Voetbal International. "We didn't even talk with Gala, so there couldn't be an agreement.

"I have no idea (about an agreement between the two sides). Inter haven't told me about it. I don't expect Sneijder to sign a contract just yet.

"Anything is possible. Over the next few weeks we will consider every offer that comes our way. It's the choice of Wesley and his wife Yolanthe. Until then, Wesley needs to rest so he can make the right decision."

Manchester United were extremely interested in signing the midfielder a couple of years ago, but have now reportedly cooled their interest with Sir Alex Ferguson having an array of attacking options at his disposal already.
