Tony Gonzalez Becomes Trainer? TE Joins FitStar and Helps Exercise from an Ipad

If you're intimidated by Tony Gonzalez, then you might not want to join him for the next step of his career. The NFL tight end and future Hall of Famer is a part of a workout app you can download on your iPad. Gonzalez tag teamed with "FitStar" and he can be your personal trainer.

Gonzalez is a health fanatic. How else do you expect a 36-year-old to still be fully active on a football field? With a combination of a balanced diet, exercise and training, he was able to maintain his figure, which allowed him to perform week after week for many years at a high level.

With the app, you can choose from a wide array of workouts and setup the exercises based on your goals. Gonzalez will be yelling and motivating you from the other side of the screen as you work your way through your programs.

The goal? Trying to get America a bit healthier one workout at at time. According to ESPN, two-thirds of Americans are considered overweight or obese. That's over 200 million people!

With a trainer on your iPad, people are expected to be more active and willing to work out. No need to travel to the gym or buy machines and weights. This app requires no equipment.

Don't like to workout alone? Having a workout buddy is more fun and entertaining. The app is interactive allowing you to compete with your friends and show them your improvements.

Gonzalez is joining a movement that is growing in the United States. We have all seen those "Play 60" commercials, a very entertaining one featuring Cam Newton and a little boy who wants to become the quarterback's mom's favorite player.

Though the app isn't targeted for kids, the NFL is becoming really active in the fight against obesity.

Gonzalez is a great example and perfect for this app because he can still keep up with the younger guys who attempted to defend him on the field. In 2012 he went for 930 yards and eight touchdowns.

There are a couple of athletes in their mid and late 30's still playing at a high level. Ray Allen can still knock down some shots. The Black Mamba, Kobe Bryant has been around the league forever and his physique doesn't seem to change. Ray Lewis can probably play for a year or two, but he's retiring due to personal reasons. Of course, Derek Jeter, before the foot injury, was still playing at a high level and had his New York Yankees in the postseason.

Wait, put your iPads down, didn't mean to get you excited. The app isn't available yet, it's set to hit the cyber stores in the spring.
