Seattle Seahawks linebacker Leroy Hill was arrested on charges of domestic violence in Washington, according to local reports.
According to Mike Ferreri of KOMO-TV, Hill was arrested in Issaquah, Wash., but that he has not been formally charged with any crimes stemming from a Tuesday incident. Hill is coming out of contract with the Seahawks and is a pending free agent from the team.
Details are still coming out, but Curtis Crabtree writes on Pro Football Talk:
"Hill was arrested for fourth-degree assault and unlawful imprisonment. The assault would be a gross misdemeanor while the unlawful imprisonment would be a Class C felony charge in Washington State. The latter would carry a sentence of up to five years in jail and a fine of up to $10,000 if Hill is charged and convicted."
Hill has dealt with off the field issues in the past, including when he was arrested for domestic violence back in April 2010. The charge was dismissed after Hill agreed to enroll in a domestic violence treatment program.
He also has been arrested twice in recent years for marijuana-related offenses, according to Crabtree.
Hill is 30-years-old and is coming off of a season in which he had 47 tackles, 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble in 13 regular-season appearance. He also recorded seven tackles in two playoff games for the Seahawks this January.
The NFL has dealt with domestic violence issues frequently over the past few years, including recently this week when former San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders offensive tackle Kwame Harris was charged with assaulting his ex-boyfriend at a Bay Area restaurant. The league has also had to deal with players like Chris Rainey and others who were arrested for domestic violence issues.
The most notable was the incident when Kansas City linebacker Jevon Belcher murdered his girlfriend and then committed suicide last year.
Hill will be a free agent next month and now may not have as many suitors looking for his services after yet another arrest.
