The San Francisco 49ers did something they had never done in the history of the franchise, lose at the Super Bowl. Following their 31-34 lost to the now Super Bowl Champion, Baltimore Ravens, the 49ers will more than likely enter the 2013 season with a sour taste of defeat in their mouths which will propel them to the Super Bowl again the following year. Why? There are many reasons.
A Full Season with Kaepernick
There will be no Alex Smith drama next year and Jim Harbaugh can put to bed all the doubts, if he had any, of starting Colin Kaepernick over a proven veteran and the team's No. 1 pick back in 2005 who almost got them to the Super Bowl in 2012.
It will be interesting to see what Kaepernick can do over the course of the season. He has the gun to strike receivers down field while possessing the speed and agility to scramble and escape pressure.
49ers Get Better with Time
Last season, the New York Giants defeated the 49ers in the NFC Championship game and it was a very close game. Had they been healthy, who knows what could have happened.
In 2013, they lost to the Ravens and, once again, it was a close game.
Now, the 49ers have the Super Bowl experience and they possess a pretty young team. Losing at this stage in their careers will only help them appreciate the team more and force them to play hard throughout the year as they have learned never to take things granted.
Kaepernick will be the starter next year, Frank Gore is still a top running back in the league and Aldon Smith and Patrick Willis are complete bullies on the defensive end of the ball.
The 49ers are one of the few complete teams in the league and next season they will likely dominate.
49ers Will Be Hungry
The taste of heartbreak will treat the 49ers well down the road. Like mentioned previously, losing will surely make them a tougher team because their talents will be bolstered and driven by their Super Bowl XLVII failure.
The game was decided early on as the Ravens jumped all over a 49ers. Had the 49ers been focused at the beginning of the game, maybe then they could have won and not fallen so far behind in the scoreboard.
The 49ers will have to fight versus the Seattle Seahawks as both teams have young quarterbacks with sick defenses. 2013 will be an interesting year to follow, but the 49ers can make it back to the big game and eventually win it all.
