New York Giants Radio Live Stream of Chris Canty ESPN Interview at 5 p.m. ET

Feb 06, 2013 04:57 PM EST

After four season with the New York Giants, Chris Canty received the pink slip as the team decided to release the eight year veteran. He will now hit the radio as ESPN will interview the former Giant and Dallas Cowboy defensive end at 5 p.m. ET.

Canty wasn't the only who received the ax. Joining Canty on the unemployment line are linebacker Michael Boyle and running back Ahmad Bradshaw. Both players also played a big part in the Giants success over the past few years and both are now gone from the team.

The belief is that the Giants want to make payroll space for Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks. The Giants are already loaded in both departments. They have Jason Pierre-Paul, Justin Tuck and Osi Umenyiora. Canty was due to make over $6 million this past season, so the Giants went ahead and cut him from the team.

As far as running backs, the Giants signed cheaper alternatives during the season. David Wilson was their first round draft pack in the 2012 draft and he did an excellent job as returnman and running back. Andre Brown came out of nowhere and showed he can run the ball effectivel.

These two guys look to be the future of the Giants ground game looking forward and are cheaper.

In 2012, Canty had three sacks, 20 tackles and though injured, played in nine games. Canty recently turned 30 and still has a few years of high quality football in his future.
