The Seattle Sounders and Columbus Crew are playing on the MLS Soccer schedule on Saturday night and the game starts up at 10 pm ET and comes as Clint Dempsey was suspended for two games and they come in after a win against Montreal and that was their second of the season.
The team started off the season with a win against Kansas City at home and that was on a goal from Chad Barrett at the end and that was against the defending champions and they now return home to CenturyLink Field after playing against the Impact on the road and that comes after a loss against Toronto before the Montreal victory.
Seattle comes in against Columbus before playing three straight road games next and that will be against Portland, Dallas and Chivas before returning home and they will have another three games at the Link. Seattle is second on the league table ahead of Vancouver and behind Dallas and in the east Houston and Columbus are on top and Seattle has two wins and one loss this season and they will finally be getting Dempsey back after his suspension went down. Dempsey was very disappointed by the decision, as was his national coach Jurgen Klinsmann and it was tough since the US team is about to play a friendly on Wednesday against Mexico and that is the last match for the team before the World Cup, but he did not get the chance to stay fit and play in the last two games.
The games against Mexico are always heated and this time it will be a mixed crowd of fans in Arizona and while the matchup is not a qualifier or anything, it is the last shot for the US to play together before the World Cup and that means it will be very important to get things set before the World Cup camp begins next month. Dempsey was suspended after a very physical game and he was hit with conduct after he hit another player and it was missed by officials and while it was appealed, it was upheld and now his next matchup in the MLS will be with Seattle against Portland on the road on April 5. Dempsey is fouled more than anyone in the league and that has been an issue in the past and he said that he will be ready for the US game and when he returns for Seattle.
Columbus has only played two matchups this season so far and they had a long break after their opening win against DC United and that came on the road and they won 3-0 before returning home against Philadelphia and winning 2-1 against the Union. The team now plays against Seattle before another home matchup with Toronto and then the team plays San Jose, DC United again and then at home against the New York Red Bulls before a matchup with the defending champions in Kansas City at Sporting Park.
