Home Run Derby 2012: Cano Picks AL Team, Bautista, Fielder, Trumbo

It is official, Home Run Derby captain, Robinson Cano, has chosen his American League team.

He summoned upon Jose Bautista, Prince Fielder and Mark Trumbo for this year's competition.

Jose Bautista, from the Toronto Blue Jays, went on a tear in the month of June hitting 14 home runs. Cano was right behind him with 11.

In total, Bautista has 26 homers to lead the Majors.

Trumbo, from the Angels, is a great addition to the derby. It will be his first chance to be under the spotlight even though he always manages to make it on Sportscenter.

So far this year, Trumbo has hit 20 jacks. It will be interesting to see how he will do in the competition.

Fielder, from the Tigers, only has 12 home runs, but with that body of his, you can expect a few balls to fly over the fence.

Cano picked his team after National League captain, Matt Kemp, picked his hitters.

Carlos Gonzalez, Carlos Beltran and Giancarlos Stanton will represent the NL.

CarGo, from the Colorado Rockies, has 17 homers and tied for fourth. Beltran, who is doing well in St. Louis, has 20, good for second place in the NL and the Florida Marlin Stanton is right behind him with 19.

Add it up and with Kemp's 12, the NL has 68 combined homers. Cano has 20 homers and the AL team has 78 combined.

This shall be a great one to watch.

The home run derby is on Monday July 9th.
