The Lions are coming into the season with massive expectations after missing the playoffs in 2013 and now Jim Caldwell is the man in charge after taking over and he feels that his team is ready to win in this league. The Lions made the playoffs to break their drought a couple of years ago, but they were madly inconsistent last season and now they have the chance to get that right this season and they have the defense and offensive talent to do it.
The Lions could be the most talented team to not make the playoffs, as they have stars all over the field. The team has the best wideout in football with Calvin Johnson and they also have Matthew Stafford at QB and he has the chance to put up massive numbers again. The team also has Ndamukong Suh on defense and they just drafted Eric Ebron at tight end and he could be a star, while Golden Tate has joined up in free agency and that could make the team even stronger on offense.
The team comes into the matchup after ranking third in the NFL last season in passing yards per game and they also were one of the top rush defenses in the league, ranking in the top 10. The team won over the Cleveland Browns at home for the first preseason game and then they lost to the Oakland Raiders on the road. The team now plays Jacksonville and then they will travel to play the Buffalo Bills at Ralph Wilson Stadium for their last game of the preseason.
The team opens with the NY Giants at home for Monday Night Football in Week 1 and then the team has tough games against playoff teams from last season. The team plays against the Carolina Panthers on the road and then at home against the Green Bay Packers, The team then has the Jets and Buffalo Bills for back to back AFC East games and then they have a tough slate into the bye week. The Lions play against the Vikings on the road outdoors and then they play against the New Orleans Saints and then the Atlanta Falcons in London baby.
The Jaguars lost to the bears last week, but Bortles had a very solid game and now he could be pushing for the starting QB position the way he is playing. The team is playing against the Lions and then the Falcons and they open the season on the road against the Redskins and Eagles and those will be tough games. The team has three of four on the road to start and they play the Colts and Steelers for their third and fourth games.
