Chicago Bears Rumors: Brandon Marshall Injury Not Serious for Fantasy Week 11 As Jay Cutler Benched With More Losses?

The Chicago Bears were embarrassed on Sunday night by the Green Bay Packers and the matchup nearly added an injury to the insult, as WR Brandon Marshall hurt his ankle, but reports say the issue is not serious and he will be active for fantasy football owners in Week 11 and this comes as Jay Cutler is struggling mightily and the Bears may have to think about benching him if he doesn't bounce back soon.

The Packers started off fast against the Bears on Sunday night and the team dropped over 50 points on Chicago and by the end of the game it was Matt Flynn playing for Aaron Rodgers. Marshall had a solid game for the Bears despite the score, putting up eight catches for over 100 yards and a TD, but he suffered an ankle injury late and had to leave the game. According to ESPN.com, the injury does not appear serious and early reports have Marshall likely to play for Week 11 against the Vikings in a huge game for the Bears.

Marshall comes out of the week with 42 catches for 496 yards and six TDs on the season and he had a strong game before leaving with the ankle injury. The Bears are optimistic that Marshall will play and he had his best game in weeks with eight catches for 112 yards, which were his most catches and yards in a game since back in Week 6 and he scored his first TD since back in Week 4 of the season.

The Bears were completely throttled on Sunday night and now two weeks in a row the team has set franchise records for points allowed in a first half. Marc Trestman's record in his first season and a half with the Bears is actually the same as Mike Ditka's but the team has been terrible on defense. Last year they still were putting up points so it didn't look as bad, but right now the team is a mess and without improvement, some players and coaches could be coaching and playing for their jobs.

Jay Cutler just signed a massive contract so it's likely that nothing will be happening to him, but right now his leadership is being questioned by many in the media. Cutler has gone 1-10 against the Packers since coming to the Bears and he has tossed 22 interceptions in that time. Cutler is going to get a ton of heat for the play of the Bears, but he is not on the defense and a lot should fall on that side of the ball as well. Cutler likely will not get benched for Jimmy Clausen, but another bad loss could be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

Clausen is not the answer long term, but Marc Trestman said that Cutler must play better and he is right. Cutler has 18 TDs and 10 picks this season and while he is completing over 66 percent of his passes, he has not been efficient enough overall and the Bears need to help him on defense as well. The team had high expectations coming into the season and now heads could roll after the year is done.
