The Boston Red Sox made some major moves on the free agent market by signing Hanley Ramirez and Pablo Sandoval in free agency and now the two players will join a team that finished with a losing record just one year after winning the World Series.

ESPN.com reports that Sandoval signed for big money, while Ramirez is in on a five year deal worth $90 million. Ramirez and Sandoval were two of the best players on the market and now they join the Red Sox. The team may now look at trades, as they are in the market for a prime pitcher and they have some flexibility now that the two players are in. Jon Lester is a target, but the Giants now may jump into that with Sandoval leaving.

Some in baseball circles have said that the Red Sox will not trade Xander Bogaerts and instead will have Ramirez play the outfield. That type of move for a player is not unprecedented and that could lead to the team trading someone else, possibly Cespedes, Allen Craig or Jackie Bradley Jr. The Red Sox have plenty of depth at certain positions with young players and that could allow them to make some moves.

Sandoval won the World Series last season with the Giants, while Ramirez was formerly with the organization and was traded to the Marlins.
