FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup 2012 Results of Mexico vs. Switzerland, Italy vs. Korea Republic in Group A and B Matchups

The Group B pool saw a lot of action today at the first round of the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. All four teams were in action early Wednesday morning, and when we say early, we mean early. Mexico defeated Switzerland 2-0, meanwhile, Italy was defeated by the Korea Republic 0-2.

Beginning with Mexico's win, that game saw a scoreless scoreboard in the first half. A few yellow cards were handed out.

Mexico scored both of their goals in the second half. The first, just minutes into the second quarter by Sofia Huerta.

Olivia Jimenez then added an unbelievable goal as time was running down in stoppage time. She was maybe 15 yards from midfield and she sent a booming kick past Swiss goalie, Pascale Kueffer.

With the win they place themselves in third place, but just one point behind in the standings. They possess a 1-0-1 record in Group A standings.

For the Korea Republic, it was a similar victory as far as the score goes. Their offense struck later in the second half but they did so quickly on back-to-back occasions.

Lee Geummin put up the first score of the game at the 56 minute mark. Jeoun Eunha then followed with a score of her own just two minutes later.

Italy finds itself in a heap of trouble as they have yet to win a match and are in last place in the Group B standings.

Mexico will face New Zealand in a few days and Italy has to play the tough Nigerian squad.

Both matches will be the last ones in the first round of the FIFA tournament.
