Bobby Valentine was fired Thursday afternoon by the Boston Red Sox after posting the team's first 90-plus loss season since 1965.
So now we have to missed postseasons and two fired managers in back-to-back years.
Boston is probably the official place where no player wants to land. They let go of star players leaving their lineup filled to role players and minor leaguers.
Wednesday's game against the New York Yankees pretty much summed it all up as they fell 14-2. They witnessed the Yankees clinch an A.L. East division as they are on their way to the playoffs as the Red Sox will now go into the winter with questions to answer.
Vice President and General Manager Ben Cherington will now have the daunting task of finding a manager that would take in this lackluster team.
The best thing the Red Sox did in 2012 was empty out their payroll trading Carl Crawford, who has been a bust mainly due to injuries, Adrian Gonzalez and Josh Beckett.
For Valentine, it is his shortest stint as a manager. He has been skipper for three teams including the Red Sox. Valentine managed the Texas Rangers for eight seasons and took the New York Mets to the World Series in 2000, spending seven seasons in Queens.
Bobby Valentine's record as a manager stands a 1,186 wins and 1,165 losses.
