Alex Rodriguez will be missing the first half of the regular season with a hip injury after getting surgery, but he will be in attendance at Yankee Stadium for the opening game against the Red Sox, although he wasn't introduces for the lineups to start the year.
According to CBS News, Rodriguez was in attendance at the game and has spent the offseason dealing with rehab and new PED accusations. The Yankees have a number of injured players and are relying on Vernon Wells and others to pick up the slack for Rodriguez, Derek Jeter and Curtis Granderson.
Rodriguez also made healdines with one of his pictures, as an Instagram shot of him made it on the cover of the New York Times.
From photographer Nick Laham and his blog:
"That was me in the locker room bathroom shooting portraits of the New York Yankees players with my iPhone. This was not my choice, I wasn't given the option of studio or bathroom stall and decided on the latter. I joined the chain of photographers at 6am in the confines of the New York Yankees Spring Training facility in Tampa, and took what space I could get and worked with it. Below is a set of images shot with my iPhone and processed through Instagram (I shot others with an "actual" camera, but these are my selects from my iPhone set)."
