Taylor Dorman, a California student in high school who just celebrated his 16th birthday, died on Wednesday after being hit in the chest with a softball during a physical education class activity.
According to NBC.com, school officials said that Dorman was hit with a softball during school hours and after collapsing on a Ramona High School field he was taken to Palomar Hospital. Ramona High School principal Tony Newman confirmed that the student's birthday was on Wednesday and that the official death will be determined at a later date. Students appeared on Wednesday night at the school to mourn the student and also signed a memorial for him and his family.
Reports said that Dorman collapsed 20 minutes after being hit with the ball and died a few hours later and he also made a joke and continued to play the game after being hit before collapsing. The coach on the field calls 911 and paramedics came quickly, but it was not enough to save him.
