Oakland Raiders Rumors: Vince Young Looks Good in Workout with Black & Silver

Apr 11, 2013 04:54 PM EDT

The Oakland Raiders are looking for a backup and Vince Young has apparently caught their eyes in a workout and rumors have him as the possible favorite for the job. Scratch Seneca Wallace and Terrelle Pryor, is what they seem to being saying in NFL.com.

Ian Rapoport, writer for NFL.com, reported that the Raiders were in discussions with Young, the broke quarterback still looking for work in the NFL. Young showed up to a workout on Thursday together with Troy Smith of the Baltimore Ravens and according to Rapoport, Young was all the Raiders could talk about saying he looked good.

Young has to prove that he's a changed player as teams are looking out to see how accurate the quarterback can be with his throws. The thought is that if indeed the Raiders are interested in Young, the Pryor and Wallace will no longer be the quarterbacks in charge of backing up Matt Flynn.

The talk this offseason for the Raiders has been in relation to their quarterback. There will is no more Carson Palmer as the Raiders traded him away for the Seattle Seahawks' Matt Flynn, who was signed to be the starting quarterback in 2011, but was replaced by rookie sensation Russell Wilson. The Raiders will rely on an inexpereinced Flynn, but he's proved to be a capable quarterback in his chances and he should get his best shot to start while with the Raiders.

Vince Young last quarterbacked for the Philadelphia Eagles and started three games where he went 1-2 with 866 passing yards, four touchdowns and nine interceptions. The most recent news heard from Young was that he was broke after being unable to control certain habits that eventually led to poor decisions early on in his career.

Young might have proven capable of returning to the NFL as a backup.
