The Aaron Hernandez murder case has a ton of new details out after a judge unsealed a number of documents and search warrants and now the tight end is facing even more scrutiny, as the police took evidence from his home, cars as well as surveillance system and cell phones and now his girlfriend is also the target of a search after police interviewed her sister and found out about a storage unit where the murder weapon may have been hidden.
The sealed evidence and search warrants documents were released on Tuesday to the Boston media after a request and showed a number of different types of evidence collected by police. The 156-page document also detailed how Hernandez reacted when police first showed up to house and what happened when they wanted to speak with him about the death of Odin Lloyd, whose body was located less than a mile from his home.
The warrants involved Hernandez's mansion and police found a host of items there that could be connected to the murder, including clothing, ammo and other evidence. Hernandez first interacted with police when they were at his home the day after the murder and when he approached them and he was asked about an SUV that he had rented. The former Patriots star said that he rented it for Lloyd and that he had seen him in Boston the previous day.
Following more questions the report said he became argumentative and asked "What's with all the questions?" before going back in the house and closing the door. He returned later with his attorney's card and eventually he agreed to come in and speak about the incident. The report said that when police told him that it involved a death investigation, Hernandez "did not ask officers whose death was being investigated. Mr. Hernandez's demeanor did not indicate any concern for the death of any person."
There is video evidence of Lloyd getting into a Nissan Altima that has been tied to the crime scene and it also the same car that Hernandez rented on June 17. The police found a bullet underneath a child's drawing and Hernandez said that he rented the car for "O", which is what he called Lloyd. The body of Lloyd was found with five shots in it and a wallet, a cellphone, $64.75 in cash and two sets of keys for a black Chevy Suburban.
Hernandez's girlfriend spoke to police for a bit and said that they went out on Father's day and had a babysitter for their child and then returned home, after which Hernandez went out, but Jenkins did not know with whom or where. She said she knew Hernandez was out but that she went to bed and she also previously told police that Lloyd liked to smoke weed, that he sold drugs and that his phone was always ringing. Soon after, she got a call from Hernandez that said she should stop talking and request a lawyer per advice from his agent.
