The fantasy football season is into Week 2 and one of the most overlooked positions on most owners' rosters are the team defense and with a number of interesting matchups, there are some squads that could surprise moving forward.
The Baltimore Ravens defense was totally lit up by the Denver Broncos on Thursday night last week, but they should be much improved now that the Cleveland Browns are on the scheduled and Peyton Manning is heading to New York to play his brother. The team gave up seven passing touchdowns and 49 points along with 445 passing yards and 510 total yards, but chances are this week things will be much improved with the Browns on the schedule.
In Week 1 the team only could muster up 10 points against the Miami Dolphins and with Brandon Weeden still struggling at quarterback in his second year, it could be a much better day than last week for the Baltimore Ravens. The defensive ranks in most leagues by points are a bit out of whack, as they likely depended on who the team played in Week 1. For example, the Kansas City Chiefs have the top scoring defense in some fantasy leagues, but that is mainly because the team played against the Jaguars and gave up only two points and also had a defensive touchdown.
The Chiefs should have a much tougher time this week against Dallas, a team that put up over 30 points in their opener, but since it is a home game, which could tip the scales in their favor. The Dallas Cowboys defense played great against the Giants and forced six turnovers and they obviously will be playing the Chiefs on the road and while they likely won't get six again, the defense showed that it is much improved from last year's unit.
The Dolphins and Titans are also ranked in the top part of fantasy scoring, also because of the way their games played out and Miami will be playing Indy, much better offensive team than the Browns team they played last week. The ravens should be much better as well against the Browns and are a hard START this week.
