The Philadelphia Eagles host the Kansas City Chiefs as the NFL's Week 3 commences. There should be drama, but it should not create malice. This is the live blog bringing you all the live scoring updates with anything and everything that takes place on Lincoln Financial Field. Aside from the score, we will bring you commentary, stats and a play-by-play of all the action.
The Chiefs provide the defense and the Eagles will provide the offense.
It's obviously a small sample size through just two weeks of the NFL season, but the Chiefs are one of eight teams still undefeated in 2013. They have done most of the work on defense after allowing just two points to the Jacksonville Jaguars. In fact, their defense was not responsible for giving up those two points. The Jaguars scored those points through a safety. Then the Dallas Cowboys came in during Week 2, scoring 16 points, but the Chiefs were clutch late in the game, winning by a point.
The Eagles will light up the scoreboard and they will put this Chiefs offense to work. Michael Vick seems to have a somewhat working offensive line. He's been sacked four times, but the Eagles are moving the ball well out of the backfield and they are tiring out their opponents. However, they are also tiring out their defense.
Through the first two weeks of the 2013 season, the Eagles have allowed 58 first downs on defense, 10 more than their offense has put up. They have also allowed seven touchdowns, matching their offense's production. After the offense scored 30 points on Sunday against the San Diego Chargers, the Eagles should have won that game. However, the explosive Chargers offense led by Philip Rivers put up 33 points, ruining the Eagles' offensive efforts.
The Chiefs' offense does not look potent enough to keep up with Vick, DeSean Jackson and LeSean McCoy. If they can exploit a gassed Eagles' defense, then the Chiefs should have a chance in this game. If their defense is the real deal, then they will have to prove it today in this truly tough matchup.
