This World Series will feature the two best teams of 2013. Both the Red Sox and Cardinals finished with a 97-65 record during the regular season. They had to battle their way to the top being that the Tampa Bay Rays hounded the Sox all year long, while the Cardinals had to battle against two teams; the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Cincinnati Reds.

The Red Sox got here because of their clutch hitting and tough pitching. Whenever their pitching had given up the lead, there were those scrappy Red Sox mounting a rally and making the comeback. Though David Ortiz may be way past his prime, he still has the magic stick. Shane Victorino brought the leather and great attitude to Boston as the Flying Hawaiian was the reason why the Sox were able to complete that comeback.

The Cardinals had to be scrappy. They could barely manufacture runs as their offense was inconsistent. Credit Los Angeles Dodgers' pitching staff for keeping the Red Birds' bats underseize, but credit the Cardinals for doing enough against Clayton Kershaw, twice, to ultimately win the series. In fact, the Cardinals completely crushed the Dodgers and Kershaw in Game 6. Many though the series was going to seven, but the Cardinals had other plans as they went on to win 9-0.

Two aces, who have been excellent in 2012, Adam Wainwright and Jon Lester take the mound. Wainwright has been great all year, while Lester found himself in the latter stages of the season. For Lester, winning and finding the strikezone were a problem early on, but with great starts in September, the lefty was able to carry his domination into the month of September. As for Wainwright, well, it is simple, if Kershaw would not have compiled the numbers he did this season, Wainwright would win the Cy Young Award.

It is the Cardinals vs. Red Sox in the 2013 World Series. Will St. Louis get revenge after losing in 2004 or will the Red Sox raise another banner in Boston?
