The Phoenix Suns are trying to make big moves this offseason and a trade with Eric Bledsoe and Goran Dragic could be coming, as the team wants to try and sign Gordon Hayward from the Utah Jazz to a max contract and the team is also interested in the Kevin Love trade talks as well as Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James in free agency if they can clear enough cap space.
The Suns reportedly are looking to add at least one major piece this offseason as they try and build on the year they had last season and names like Pau Gasol, Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James and Gordon Hayward are all potential options for the team to sign. According to Pro Basketball Talk, the team is looking to keep Bledsoe as an unrestricted free agent, but GM Ryan McDonagh said the team could consider making a move if it was the right deal. The team picked Tyler Ennis in the first round of the draft and that could lead to a trade with Dragic, who had his best season as a pro last year.
According to Pro Basketball Talk, the Suns are looking at Hayward as a target and it could be tough to sign him, as the Jazz are likely going to match any offer given to him. Hayward and the Jazz could not come to an agreement last year on a contract extension and now he is a restricted free agent and he could get some interesting offers on the market. The Suns reportedly are willing to offer him a max contract, but the Jazz appear willing to match that offer to keep their former top 15 draft pick.
Hayward is 6-foot-8 and has developed into a very smooth shooter and he offers some great offense from the wing and nearly any team in the league could use him out there, including the Suns. The Suns were one of the most surprising teams in the league last season and they nearly made the playoffs after everyone thought they could be one of the worst teams in the NBA. Suns head coach Jeff Hornacek has a connection to Hayward and while that doesn't mean he will sign with the Suns, there is a chance the two sides could work out a deal.
A crazy deal that likely will not happen was reported by Yahoo Sports, which said that the team could be willing to pursue both LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony to give them a chance to play with each other. The Suns have been mentioned as a possibility for the Kevin Love trade since they have first round picks to deal, but this would be a major, major move.
The team would have to clear some space and obviously convince the two to sign and the report from Yahoo says that the team knows it's a big longshot. The Suns have a young roster and room to add salary and if they can convince the two stars to sign and play together, it would mark one of the biggest shockers in NBA history. Yeah, that ain't happening, but it's nice to dream Suns.
