AC Milan and Olympiakos Olympiacos are playing the opener of the Guinness International Champions Cup on Thursday night and the matchup is live from BMO Field in Toronto and the matchup has two strong teams coming to the US to play after the tournament last year and this kicks off the tourney with a number of European teams and it will be live from FOX on the Fox Sports 2Go app website online.
Mario Balotelli leads the way for AC Milan and he comes in after playing in the World Cup and the team now is looking to start off their North American tour with some solid play against Greek Champs Olympiakos. These two teams were in the Champions League and now they are matching up in this tournament and it has a number of high profile teams playing in North America. AC Milan has a great history of winning titles and now they come in with Balotelli and Kaka and this comes after the team made it to the Round of 16 last season in the Champs League.
AC Milan is playing a number of games, including against Manchester City and that will be in Pittsburgh at Heinz Field, while the team also will matchup with Liverpool and that is in Charlotte at Bank of America Stadium in August. Milan has young stud Hachim Mastour coming through for the team and he will be someone to keep an eye on. Olympiakos has Jose Holebas and he will be a player to focus on for the Greek side and this matchup could be high scoring depending on how the teams line up.
AC Milan came in third place in the tournament last year and they will be looking to do even better this time around. The Greek side has played against Krasnodar and Dynamo Kiev and lost and drew those matches for the preseason coming in and they are hoping to get things going. AC Milan finished down this season and they were in eighth in Serie A, but this gives them a chance for a boost.
AC Milan is looking to get back into the elite side of European Clubs and they are looking to be back in the fold after winning the Champions League years ago in 2007. The team had a tough finish last season and they are hoping this Champions Cup and kick start things as they head into Serie A this season. The team has won one Italian title since that championship and now they hope a win against Olympiakos can start that off. European teams opened very well against the MLS on Wednesday, with Man U winning 7-0 over the LA Galaxy and now these teams will play in Toronto after it was originally schedule for Citi Field in NY.
