The Philadelphia Eagles have Mark Sanchez as the starting quarterback on Monday night football in Week 10 with Nick Foles out and for fantasy football owners the best start options for Sanchez include Jeremy Maclin, LeSean McCoy, Jordan Matthews, Zach Ertz and Darren Sproles, as those names have the chance to step up for Chip Kelly against the Panthers as the team tries to win on MNF this week.
The Eagles are dealing with a serious injury to Foles and he may now miss the rest of the regular season. According to Pro Football Talk, Foles has a cracked collarbone and that could keep him out for at least six weeks and possibly more. The Eagles feel comfortable using Sanchez and that was the main reason why Chip Kelly did not feel the need to trade Sanchez after he had a strong preseason this year. The Eagles have plenty of offensive talent and with the Panthers defense not nearly as good as last year, there are many fantasy players that could put up points.
The Eagles have been one of the best teams in the NFC this season and with the injury to Foles, Sanchez could end up starting in the playoffs. Kelly has praised Sanchez and there is a chance he could be the long term option if he continues to play well and that is the same way that Foles ended up getting the job in the first place. Last season Foles had over 25 TDs and just two picks, but he was not as efficient this season and now Sanchez has the chance to stake his claim as a starter after the Jets completely railroaded his career a couple years ago.
Riley Cooper has not been as good as last season and that has allowed Matthews to step up alongside Maclin, who has been one of the best fantasy players this season. Maclin came back after an injury last year and now has put together a very solid season and he is playing himself into a contract after signing a one year deal this offseason. Sanchez now has 202 yards on the season with two TDs and he will get his chance on Monday night to start a game for the Eagles.
Matthews is a wild card each week and he could be a solid option with Sanchez, as the two had plenty of work together over the summer. Matthews has been very solid as a rookie and now has 32 catches for 313 yards and three touchdowns on the year. Matthews is a boom or bust guy, but the past three weeks he has beaten out his projections and had three catches for 40 yards and a TD last weekend.
Maclin has been great this season and he is the top option on the team over everyone else on Monday night, while McCoy and Darren Sproles should see some action. Maclin had six catches last week for 158 yards and two TDs against the Texans and he looked great once again and now he has 45 catches for 790 yards on the season with eight TDs. The Eagles and Maclin have the chance to put up some big points on Monday night.
