Inter Milan playmaker Wesley Sneijder is interested in a move to the English Premier League, but ruled out signing for Queens Park Rangers, saying he is only keen on signing for a "top" Premier League club.
Sneijder's future is up in the air following a contract dispute which has seen the 28-year-old frozen out of the Inter squad for much of this season.
The Dutch international's agent Soren Lerby admitted his client would be open to a move to the Premier League, with Manchester United long-term admirers.
"He is absolutely not interested in QPR and we haven't heard directly from anyone there," Lerby told BBC Sport.
"England probably has the top league in Europe, so it could appeal, but Wes would want to play for a top team.
"Wesley is one of the best midfielders in Europe. He is fully recovered from injury and just loves to play football, so we need to find a solution to his situation with Inter.
"It's a very, very strange situation for all of us. We should know a lot more in the next week to 10 days."
United had a bid for Sneijder turned down a few years back, and it would now seem the likelihood of the former Ajax and Real Madrid man joining the Red Devils is pretty slim.
Sir Alex Ferguson has more than enough options in the attacking department, and has bought a similar player to Sneijder in Shinji Kagawa at the beginning of the season.
To compound matters further, Sneijder does not exactly get along well with United's main man Robin Van Persie. With the former Arsenal striker going all guns blazing at Old Trafford, it is unlikely Ferguson will take the risk of creating internal discontent by bringing in Sneijder.
QPR manager Harry Redknapp said he had received a call from an agent asking whether he wanted to sign Sneijder.
"I was asked by one agent if I wanted to sign Sneijder," Redknapp said.
"Of course I do. However, he's on about £200,000 a week ($320,000) and now he wants to join QPR?
"I won't name the agent, but let's just say I think a deal is unlikely."
Sneijder has also been linked with a move to Tottenham, but that now seems to be ruled out with Spurs announcing they had agreed a deal to bring Lewis Holtby to White Hart Lane at the end of the season.
