Cam Newton Finishing Degree as QB Returns to Auburn

Cam Newton is back at Auburn University. No! He didn't get demoted from the NFL, Newton had a decent 7-9 record in 2012. The Carolina Panthers' quarterback returned to Auburn to wrap up his college degree.

Don't believe us? Here was a picture snapped by the guys over at https://www.thewareaglereader.com. It was a picture of Newton in the school campus.

You can tell it's Newton because look how the young lady on the right has her body somewhat contorted and it looks like she's waving at the NFL star.

Look how shocked a fan or classmate was when she noticed the quarterback on campus.

Newton is one of many stars to go from college to the pros and then return once again to get his degree from school.

The first player that comes to mind is NBA player Vince Carter who promised his mother he would eventually return to school and get a degree. Carter has somehow managed to remain healthy enough to still be effective in the real world once his basketball career comes to an end.

Newton, before leaving Auburn after just one season or school year, (depends if we're talking about football or studies) was majoring in Sociology.

On the football field, while playing for the Auburn Tigers, Newton tore the record books up. He only played one season and that's all he needed. Newton became the third player in FBS history to score 20 rushing and 20 passing touchdowns in one season. Newton finished that 2010 campaign with 30 passing touchdowns and 20 rushing touchdowns. He accomplished this with 2,854 passing yards and 1,473 rushing yards.

His success on the college field immediately translated over into the NFL grounds as Newton became one of the most unstoppable force in his rookie year. Newton passed for 4,051yards threw 21 touchdowns, 17 interceptions, rushed for another 706 yards and added 14 more touchdowns.

In 2012, he struggled a bit, but he improved in some areas. While only throwing 19 touchdowns, he also threw less interceptions finishing the season with only 12. It wasn't the season Newton expected as the franchise made changes, but with all the talent the 23-year-old possesses, there is no doubt he could make adjustments and become one of the more dominant quarterbacks in the league.

However, for now, let's hope his NFL smarts can translate over into the classroom as Newton looks to wrap up school and earn his degree.
