Sinourney Weaver was criticized for having a "weird" dress on at the SAG Awards this past weekend. Of course, after heavy inspection, these critics found out what was wrong with her dress, she wore the dress backwards. In honor of this mistake, we compiled a short list of athletes who also have had issues with their gear. Let's see what happened to Weave though.
It was a $3,500 Lavin dress designed by Alber Elbaz. Others at Daily Mail in the United Kingdom say it was constumed made other say "Weaver's Lanvin looked like a beautifully cut trash bag."
Well, here at Sports World Report we look at it as a simple mistake. In sports, uniforms sometimes get in the way of making a play or in Texas Rangers relief pitcher, Robbie Ross, sometimes you're simply wearing the wrong jersey.
As it's well narrated, Ross was a rookie in 2012. The Texas Rangers were confidently up by four runs late in the game against the Baltimore Orioles and why not have some fun. They told the rook that they were wearing grey road jerseys that day and they weren't. That's a day Ross won't ever forget.
We stay in the MLB and the next mishap wasn't done on purpose Adam Dunn and Ryan Zimmerman of the Washington Nationals wore jerseys that gave the team a different name.
Here's what their jersey read:
Natinals. For that day, back in April of 2009, the team from D.C. was named the Washington Natinals. Now this isn't the players' fault, but they were the ones wearing the jersey. Wonder if anybody noticed?
The good thing is the Nationals are winning now and a mistake like this will likely not occur. The jerseys were put to use as Dunn's misspelled jersey went for $8,000 at an auction. The players later changed into uniforms with the proper name.
Quickly changing sports we go to basketball. Andre Blatche, who is now an important part of the Brooklyn Nets' bench, was once a Washington Wizard and he suffered a "Natinals"-like wardrobe malfunction came in the way of a misspelling as well.
Hmm, seems like Washington D.C. is having trouble getting things right with players' uniforms. For a day, Blatche was known as "Baltche."
Apparently, when you play sub-.500 in sports, they throw whatever it is they feel like writing on athletes' jerseys.
For the next wardrobe blooper we go to Steve Nash who in the clip was a member of the Phoenix Suns. Once again, being great teammates, nobody told Nash was still in his practice shorts.
For Nash, it's all good. He'll still hook up his teammates with the beautiful assist. He was probably just trying to prove to people that he was still okay in the head.
We leave you with a classic.
There was that memorable day where Steve Lyons just dropped his pants as he was on first base. He states he completely forget where he was. In attempt to fix his jersey, Lyons dropped his fans in the middle of the game while standing on first and everybody roared in laughter.
He's lucky social media didn't exist at the time. Pictures would have been posted everywhere.
So don't feel bad Weaver for putting on a dress backwards, if in fact that was the case. Athletes make mistakes as well.
